Natural Slate Design

Joshua Jack was born in Kirkcaldy, Fife in 1985. From a young age he always had a strong interest in arts and craft. He decided to pursue his interests by completing various levels of art and design throughout his years at school. After leaving school, he wished to progress and improve his skills as an artist but in August 2004, was given responsibility of running a small family business manufacturing slate tableware. He saw this as an opportunity.

Having three years experience with hand crafting slate and learning its characteristics, Joshua learned to appreciate the natural beauty that slate has to offer with its colours, contours and uniqueness with each piece of slate. Combining his experience, knowledge of slate, and his artistic interests, Joshua has been able to create a number of spectacular designs using such a natural, simplistic, yet beautiful material.
